HELPING HAND

The recent floods in Chennai left thousands homeless and financially vulnerable, with many having lost their life savings and homes. At one point, even after four days of floods, there was still no electricity or even enough food for those affected.

We, at Prasanna Trust, have been working diligently for the past few weeks to provide those severely affected with basic necessities such as food and medicines. We have sent three loads of materials to Chennai from Bangalore. Two loads were distributed in South and Central Chennai to those in need and to a home for the special children under the guidance of Dr. Mayilvahanan. One load of materials was distributed to 1200 families at Manali New town, one of the worst affected places in North Chennai.

We provided bread, cake, rice, dal, oil, mustard and chilli powder in individual packing so that people could have these basic necessities. We also provided much needed drinking water which was not easily available. Local volunteers helped to distribute items by identifying families in need. Medicines were distributed at Beasant Nagar and impacted around 350-400 people.

We would like to make a special mention to the Hyderabad Chapter of Prasanna Trust which sent milk in tetra packs, mosquito coils, clothes, medicines, co-ordinated and distributed by volunteers who took time away for this purpose.
On 5th of December 2015, many people joined for a satsang at Nirguna Mandir to pray for the well being of the Chennai flood victims. We continue to send them our prayers and support through this most difficult of times.
